5 Reasons Why You Need to Hire an
Interior Designer for Your Remodel

When you’re thinking about starting a renovation on your home, hiring an interior designer isn’t always the first thing on your mind. You’re thinking about contractors and colors and fixtures! But, designers have all of those things covered! We know renovations like the back of our hand. We do them all the time! Whether it’s a kitchen or an entire house, we can help make the process smoother, easier for you, and often, *surprise* less costly! (If you end up doing it on your own anyway, check out this blog post!) Right now in Western Massachusetts, remodels are BOOMING. We’re up to our eyeballs in work! It’s amazing for us, and it’s actually a lot of fun. But, there are 5 things we want homeowners to know that we can take care of throughout the process.

1. We’ll put together a comprehensive design plan ahead of time. It’s important to know exactly what you’re going to be doing prior to diving into a renovation. When you’re working with a designer, we will run the project from the very beginning to the very end. We take measurements of the existing space and draw it up so you can see what it could look like remodeled. We make sure all of the plans are going to work in advance, saving time and money. We’ll work with your contractor or you can use our recommended contractor. Working together makes the process seamless and less stressful for you. We’re transparent about delays and mishaps. We make it known that something will typically go wrong, but that it’s not something you have to worry about. We’ll take care of it.

2. We make sure all selections are made in time. Oftentimes, contractors will ask you for your finish selections at the last minute. Then you need to drop everything you’ve got planned, and head out to a couple different showrooms to make decisions that you’re not prepared to make, and have them be in your home for the rest of your life (maybe). When a designer is running the show, we’ll pre-select a few options for you to choose from that we think works with your taste and will look great in your home. We’ll bring those finishes to you and then save all of your selections for when they need to be ordered. That way, when the contractor gives us the dimensions, we will go to the cabinet company and order your cabinets. We will get those countertops ordered and make sure they’re installed in a timely manner. We’ve got it covered.

3. We’re the middle man. If you’re working with our contractor, we’re your middle man. Any decisions that need to be made go through us. No need for you to worry about giving the specifications of your refrigerator to the contractor, cabinet company or the plumber. No need to worry about marking the location of your electrical outlets for your electrician. Instead of coming to you for every little decision, the contractor will come to us and you don’t have to worry about a thing.

4. We take care of all of the ordering. You don’t have to go to the plumbing showroom and order your fixtures. You don’t have to go to the cabinet company and order your cabinets. You don’t have to go to the granite company and give them the layout and dimensions to order your countertops. Tile backsplash, wood flooring, carpet, wallpaper, we will order it all. And track it, too. Oh and we’ll even be there for the delivery and/or installation! You don’t even have to be home. If something comes in damaged, we send it back and make sure it gets replaced as soon as possible. If something comes in wrong, we send it back and make sure it gets corrected as soon as possible. We will do our best to make sure that it doesn’t affect the progress of the project.

5. We’ll give you your HGTV moment. While you’re out, we’ll supervise the installation of all fixtures, furniture, window treatments, etc. We’ll accessorize and furnish the space and make sure everything looks perfect. When you come home, you’ll have your “reveal” and see your finished space just like on TV. That’s one of our favorite parts. Seeing the homeowner’s reaction after everything has come together.
