10 EASY Tips for How To Freshen Up Your Home for Spring
How to Make Your Home Feel Bright & Fresh
It’s finally SPRING here in western Massachusetts!
Halleluiah!
It’s time to open up those windows and clear out that stale air.
It’s also time to freshen up your home for spring!
Here are ten easy ways that you can spruce up your home this weekend.
- Paint your front door
I probably paint my front door every couple of years. You don’t have to do it that often, but if you have a dog like me it may need it.
Plus, secretly, I get tired of the color and want something new.
Painting your front door can give your home some new curb appeal and it can freshen up your foyer when it’s open.
Maybe choose a red, like this one from Better Homes and Gardens
- Wash your windows, inside and out
You’ll be absolutely amazed at how much more light comes into your home when the windows are clean. In fact, I’m willing to bet that you don’t even realize how dirty they are until after they’re clean.
I love the Windex that attaches to the hose for cleaning the outside of your windows.
And, for the inside try wiping with newspaper for a streak free, lint free clean!

- Swap out your shower curtain
I’m not talking about the liner, because I know you swap that out periodically, right? Or, at least throw it in the washing machine…
I’m talking about the fabric curtain. Try a fresh, bright, new one. OR, if you want to be really crazy 😉 try buying 2 curtains and hanging one on each side like this one featured in Atlanta Homes magazine.
- Swap out your throw rugs
When did you buy those throw rugs in your bathroom? What about the one in front of your kitchen sink? Really? Wellll, it’s time to get a new one. You know it’s grungy. Mine is. Spring is the perfect time to swap those out!
How about these from Wayfair?
- Swap out your bedding
I love my big puffy comforter on my bed in the winter, but as the weather warms up, FINALLY, I like to swap it out for a lighter coverlet. It’s the perfect time to bring your winter bedding to the cleaners.
This fresh bedding is making me feel fresh already!
- Paint a piece of furniture a bright, bold color
Head to a flea market or a tag sale and pick up a small chest of drawers or a little side table and paint it a bright, fun color! A pretty, yellow dresser in your foyer would be great for storing all those gloves, etc. Or a funky, bright green end table, like this one I found on Pinterest, would spruce up your family room!
Go bold! Have some fun!
- Rearrange your furniture
This is my absolute favorite thing to do!
The basic steps are mentioned in my free eBook How to
So go to the Tip Sheets tab and download that
But, really, how long has your furniture been in the exact spot it’s in right now?
Rearranging it can give you a whole new look!
And you’ll be amazed at what doesn’t make it back into your room in the end!
Or, if you’d like us to do that for you I’d be DELIGHTED to do so!
- Add some flowers
I mean how easy is it to pick up an inexpensive bouquet while you’re at the grocery store? They’re right there in the check out line! Splurge! Get yourself some ☺
- Declutter
THE best way to freshen up your home for spring is to declutter!
Get rid of all of the junk that you have lying around. Not judging, I have it too!
But a cluttered room never feels fresh.

- Swap out your draperies
If you have heavy draperies on your windows for the colder months, why not swap them out for a linen pair, or you could leave your windows bare and let the sun shine in.
If you want to get crafty on a budget, you can purchase an inexpensive pair of plain draperies and paint stripes on them with fabric paint for a fun look.
