How to Make Your Home Look More Expensive Than It Is!
Here’s the thing, even multi-millionaires, at least the ones I know, don’t want to spend top dollar on every single thing in their home, and neither do you.
There are ways you can make your room look more expensive, without making it look cheap.
There are two very important things to do when trying to decorate your home on a budget. If you want to make your home look more expensive than it actually is, you need to follow these two rules.
1. You need to mix more expensive items in with less expensive items.
The more expensive items will elevate the other items.
For instance, when you’re accessorizing a bookcase, not every item needs to be a priceless ancient artifact. You can have a few antiques mixed with some well-chosen budget accessories. And, you can have a less expensive end table next to a more expensive, quality sofa.
See below? That coffee table is a budget option, sitting on a custom rug in front of a custom sofa. There are budget accessories mixed with more expensive items sitting on that custom built-in.
2. The main focal point in the room needs to be great quality and probably more expensive.
When you walk into the room what is the first thing you notice? That item should be where you spend your money.
See below? When you walk into this room you notice the cozy window seat. We spent money on a custom cushion and woven shades. Not every item on the shelves had to be high-end in order to make the room feel more expensive.
So when you’re decorating your space think about what you notice first when you walk in. Then choose to mix up inexpensive items with higher end options so that your high-end choices can elevate your budget options.
